At Birch Education Services, I aim to make every assessment as relaxed and positive as possible. I work with children and young people aged 8 to 18, visiting them either at home or in school, so they feel comfortable and confident throughout the process.Having taught for over 20 years, I’ve seen how every child learns differently and how important it is to understand each learner’s unique strengths and challenges. That experience shapes the way I approach assessments and allows me to provide advice and strategies that are practical, helpful, and tailored to each child.I know from both teaching and personal experience that navigating the education system can be confusing and stressful—especially when your child has additional needs. My goal is to make the process straightforward and supportive, giving families and schools clear guidance to help each child thrive.Full Diagnostic Assessments – £495
A full assessment usually takes 3 - 4 hours (or more if accommodations and breaks are needed, this will be determined on the day in consultation with the child) and looks at areas such as reading, spelling, writing, memory, processing speed, and overall learning profile. Before the session, you’ll be asked to fill out a short questionnaire and to ask your child’s school for some background information which helps me understand the child’s needs better.Within a few weeks, you’ll receive a detailed report with findings, a diagnosis if applicable, and practical strategies for learning at home and school. All assessments follow the SASC (SpLD Assessment Standards Committee) guidelines.Assessment to inform teaching – £195
This shorter assessment takes about 1 to 2 hours and gives an overview of a child’s strengths and potential areas of difficulty. It does not diagnose dyslexia but can help identify whether a full assessment is recommended and comes with a short report including suggestions for parents and teachers.
